Nevada Driver Education is a formal program that teaches teens how to drive safely on Nevada's roads. Teens under the age of 18 must take driver education to obtain an INSTRUCTION PERMIT or a DRIVER LICENSE. Teens can enroll starting at age 15½.
Nevada DMV Requirements
Nevada requires minors (under 18) to complete a 30-hour DMV-approved driver education course, log 50 hours of supervised behind-the-wheel driving (10 hours at night), and hold an instruction permit for at least six months before obtaining a minor driver's license
- Minimum Age: You can enroll in a driver's ed course and apply for an instruction permit at 15½ years old.
- Permit Application: Proof of identity, and a completed Certification of Attendance signed by your school (proving compliance with attendance laws) to the DMV. You must also pass vision and written knowledge tests.
- Once you have your learner's permit, you must complete supervised driving before taking your road test
- 50 Total Hours: Must be completed with a licensed driver who is at least 21 years old and has held a license for a minimum of one year. At least 10 of the 50 hours must be completed at night.
- Track all hours using the official Beginning Driver Experience Log or the RoadReady app.

This is the Nevada 30-hr driver education program
Drivers ed consist of engaging lessons made up of reading material, videos, animations and games on traffic laws and defensive driving techniques. Nevada state law requires the 30-hour course to be 30 hours long. You can proceed through the course at your own pace. Come and go as often as you like. Each time you log in, we automatically take you right back to where you left off.
There is a short multiple-choice quiz after each lesson. You must pass the lesson quiz to proceed to the next lesson. You can take the quizzes as many times as necessary to pass.
The final part of the course is a 10-question multiple-choice final exam. You must score at least 80% to pass. Most people pass on their first attempt, but don't worry! We allow unlimited exam retakes at no extra charge, so you can retake the exam until you pass.
